چکیده

INTRODUCTION Circumscribed choroidal hemangiomas are vascular tumors associated with secondary changes in the overlying retinal pigment epithelium and neuro-sensory retina. Spectral-domain optical coherence tomography, a recent advancement in fundus imaging techniques provides high resolution images of the retina. We describe spectral domain Optical coherence tomography findings in a case of circumscribed choroidal hemangioma which was successfully treated with photodynamic therapy. CASE PRESENTATION A 41-year-old white male presented with decreased vision in his right eye. Fundus evaluation showed findings consistent with circumscribed choroidal hemangioma. Spectral-domain optical coherence tomography revealed a large serous retinal detachment overlying the tumor with an intact photoreceptor layer. The patient underwent photodynamic therapy and a repeat tomography scan confirmed the resolution of serous detachment with return of normal foveal contour. CONCLUSION Spectral domain optical coherence tomography is an emerging modality in imaging of the retina and reveals ultrastructural changes occurring in various retina pathologies. In this case report we illustrate the use of spectral domain optical coherence tomography for the first time to document retinal changes overlying a choroidal hemangioma and its role as a non-invasive tool in planning the treatment and prognosticating the final visual outcome following treatment for circumscribed subfoveal choroidal hemangiomas.

[Treatment with photodynamic therapy of circumscribed choroidal hemangioma].

CASE REPORTS The clinical characteristics of three patients with circumscribed choroidal haemangioma and subfoveal exudation detected by optical coherence tomography are described in this paper. The three patients were successfully treated with photodynamic therapy. DISCUSSION Photodynamic therapy is the most adequate therapeutic option for circumscribed choroidal hemangioma associated with s...

Multifocal photodynamic therapy for diffuse choroidal hemangioma

BACKGROUND A choroidal hemangioma is an uncommon benign vascular tumor of the choroid that can be either circumscribed or diffuse. In our experience, diffuse choroidal hemangiomas in Asian patients often require multiple photodynamic therapy (PDT) treatment sessions. METHODS We here provide a case report of a 7-year-old boy with Sturge-Weber syndrome who presented with diffuse choroidal heman...

Optical coherence tomography angiography of circumscribed choroidal hemangioma treated with photodynamic therapy

We describe features of a circumscribed choroidal hemangioma (CCH) treated with photodynamic therapy (PDT) by means of optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A). A 40-year-old man had a complaint of decreasing visual acuity in his left eye for 10 days. A diagnosis of CCH was confirmed by fundus examination, fluorescein angiography, and indocyanine green angiography. An OCT-A study of cho...

Application of Intravitreal Bevacizumab for Circumscribed Choroidal Hemangioma

We report 3 cases of circumscribed choroidal hemangioma (CCH) effectively managed with intravitreal bevacizumab. One patient (case 1) who had recurrent CCH (1.6 mm in thickness) with prior laser photocoagulation was treated with intravitreal bevacizumab alone. Two patients (case 2 and 3) who had CCH (2.4 mm and 2.2 mm in thickness, respectively) with recent visual impairment were treated with b...
